Austrian Airlines: Ticket refund information
We are very sorry that we could not be there for you as usual in the last months and that many of your questions - especially regarding the refund of already booked tickets - remained unanswered.
We understand your disappointment and would like to reassure you: You will get your money back!
To make this possible, we have increased the capacities in our Service Centers once more with the support provided by the rescue package. Our colleagues are working very hard to process all inquiries and claims. At the moment, we are processing the payment of refunds worth millions every week, which amounts to several thousand tickets. So far, 40 percent of all claims have already been processed. Our goal is to process all previously received claims in a maximum of 8 weeks, and we kindly ask you for your patience.
If you have already submitted an application for a refund, please do not make any additional calls - this way you can actively help to reduce the processing time to a minimum. Thank you very much.
As of July, we will be flying to more than 50 destinations worldwide.
The value of your flight ticket remains the same in any case, even if your flight was cancelled. You might want to fly at a later date after all? You have the option to suspend your tickets that were booked before May 15, 2020 and have an original travel date of up to April 30, 2021 until January 31, 2021. A new journey can take place until the end of 2021. Tickets that were or will be booked between May 16 and August 31, 2020 can be rebooked once. We are working on gradually offering you the high level of service you are used to in all areas. Unfortunately, the current situation constantly presents us with new challenges. Only recently, we had to temporarily close the newly opened routes to Great Britain, Sweden and Italy due to current developments in the states. The situation remains prone to change - nonetheless, we are pleased that travel will be possible again.
Thank you very much for the patience and understanding you have shown us so far - we know it has been a hard time full of uncertainties for all of us.
